Remembrance Day - Friday November 11, 2022

Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states, including Canada, since the end of the First World War to honour and remember the armed forces members who have died in the line of duty and those who served. In Canada, November 11 is officially called Remembrance Day, but it is also known as Armistice Day and Poppy Day. To learn more about the history and tradition of Remembrance Day, visit the Government of Canada website here. In addition to wearing red poppies, some also choose to wear a white poppy flower on Remembrance Day to commemorate the civilians casualties in wars and as a symbol for peace. Click here to read about the origin of wearing white poppy flowers.

There will be memorial parades and ceremonies in the Tri-Cities as well. Visit the city website to learn more about local events on November 11th: City of Coquitlam | City of Port Coquitlam | City of Port Moody
